The Harry Roscow Trophy

A bowls competition between the McKinnie brothers started in September 2013. Initially, we played for a small metal cup. From June 2014 onward, the winner gets the Harry Roscow Trophy, pictured above and donated by our cousin Ken Moran. This post records the background, rules of play and winners to date.

For the background on how our grandfather, Harry Roscow, came to own the trophy, click here.

We played the competition between us three brothers whenever we are together at Scone Park Bowling Club or St Ives Bowls Club. Ideally, it comprises three singles matches played to 21 in an afternoon. Sometimes shortage of time means we play twelve ends per match. If each win one match, we decided the victor on highest bowls difference. After each competition, we etch a disc with the date and winner's name and keep it inside the trophy.

The current tally is 11 wins to Andrew, 5 wins to John and 1 win to Robert.
